Intertwined (A Story of Undying Love)

She smiles and shows her surprise
She can’t believe her good fortune
The hero’s return is foretold
As certain as the rising sun
All that has been lost to her
is the folly of what was once youth
And he rides into town on a horse
Singing about justice and truth
Long into the night he regales her
Adventures lead to victories
His undying love for her
is all he really ever sees
Time spent in chains, blood spilled
his sometimes, but mostly other beasts
Her memory is his healing
and his promise to her, his release
Her smile at his return, welcoming
Her arms and her laughter, reward
She knowingly tells him how
their lives remain intertwined, a cord
