I’m A Beat

I am flashing forward and back, more fantasy than memory. I identify complacency as the adversary.

Good times, bad times, you know I’ve had my share.

Good times, bad times By Led Zeppelin

Squeezin’ the juice from my noggin! A brain that’s scattered gathers no thoughts! I could have been a pretender. I could have been a dead body—a misanthrope of the worst kind. But here I am, livin’ the good life! Making a home in the City Beautiful. Full of wisdom and compassion, ready to show ‘em how it’s done, ready to claim my work is done, chomping at the bit to build a new world that reflects my new life, worthy of the love of my new wife, free of regrets and free of strife, early to rise and All That Jazz!

I’m a beat! I’m a beat! I’m bringing in the leaves, the ones that don’t grow on trees. We used to stretch them. We used to scrimp them. Now we celebrate them. We know heaven sent them.
