Eyes On the Road

Stop racing toward oblivion

A Stranger in a Strange Land by  Don J. Preston and Leon Russell

Love is a decision. Not an emotion

Lao Tzu

Addicted to romance,
I bid bitter goodbye to
the queen of the world.

Saying "never again will
I sing of my affection"
as I shed a final tear
Eyes on the road,
as I drive determined
into the indigo twilight

Ignoring the sorrow that
fights and screams
my craving finally spent
If I don't arrive in the land
devoid of all emotion
before the dawn breaks

I will lose my conviction
and regret my decision
resetting my own trap
Trudging on through the dark
depleting fuel and senses
I find distrust and doubt

As rays unravel the night
with outcry and shock
I step back into life
