As We Move Forward Into The Truth

We all have times in our lives when we come to our senses, escape the enemy’s captivity, and move forward into The Truth.

2nd Timothy 2:24

This liberation from “the trap of the devil” is one of the many ways that we know God’s Grace. This passage shows us that as stewards of God’s truth (the Lord’s bond-servants), we can’t reject those that are still in captivity. We must love them with grace, kindness, and patience. We must watch that we don’t fall into sin through judgment, offense, and anger (see Galatians 6:1.) If we believe that the truth of God’s word has set us free (indeed!), we must believe this freedom (freely given) is for all.

The love of Jesus is a gentle love. Love and gentleness are two of the Fruit of the Spirit. So when we approach others in the task of correction, we are required to speak through the Spirit (in truth and love), or we are prohibited from speaking at all.

Jesus, please forgive us for transgressions of self-righteousness and indignation. Holy Spirit, may you reign in our hearts and tongues as we seek to bring truth to those in captivity. Help us to discern our motives and only apply them if they are true to God’s Spirit of Freedom. Guard us against the snares of the enemy as we enter into battle with his workers and forces. Free the captives through your word and truth.
