My emotions wander,
outpacing my thoughts
Fear erupts,
and sadness slows time down
Anger seethes,
longing stretches the fabric of my soul
Peace eludes me,
just out of reach and in shadows
Visions of disaster,
hurts from long ago,
broken relationships
Disappointment is a toxic memory,
ever-present and haunting!
Ghosts surround me,
stealing my childhood
Love evades,
soothing impossible
Anger and shame
a pair of tormentors
Bitterness too hard to swallow
My vision blurs,
words hide in dark places
Hope peeks in,
whispers, “I love you!”
A new dawn breaks,
Greetings and tidings
signaling I’m never alone!
