Under A Big Tree

Cool breeze. Frigid gusts. Water moving towards the hill. Ducks on the lake. Ducks in the city.

Forever born a savior, he makes my heart quaver
First born of a people, he builds up strong, the feeble

Machines in the air sirens in the square
Squawks across the lake sound for nature’s sake

When I wish upon a star, don’t have to look very far
Perhaps I’m ready to, realize a steady view

Take another look. Forget you’re on your own. Surrounded by love and nature’s abundant beauty. Nothing to call fear. On a cloudy gray day. Turn your eyes upon the scene. The sounds are more than effect.

Nowhere you’d rather be, than on this shore to see
What life has wrought, and time has sought

Reaching for balance, testing your talents
Declaring a victory, under a big tree

For the want of a story, the muse calls your bluff.

For the words you have wagered she grants you no favor
If you can make her laugh, she’ll highlight for you a path

For lack of a better plot, write what it is not.
This isn’t about you and me. It doesn’ end happily.

It doesn’t end at all, keeps going after the fall.
It hasn’t a hero, doesn’t go below zero.

It’s not made up of clues, nor does it charge dues
It doesn’t relax, there’s no list of facts

It doesn’t add up cleanly, or go above the ceiling
It’s not an adventure, nor a remedy or cure

For love I surrender all. Let my guard down and concede the battle. No more strength to resist. Only a longing for peace and a desire to live. When I call upon your name, you lift my spirit higher. When I call for mercy you teach me about your power.
