Prayer And Obedience

This entry is part 6 of 6 in the series Prayer

Two of the primary keys to our continued communion with the Lord are prayer and obedience. All our responses to His grace are indicators of our relationship with Him. All his examples, commands, and instructions are good for us and are necessary to accomplish the work he calls us to. It all starts with prayer and obedience.

Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will follow My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our dwelling with him.

John 14:23 NASB2020

Are we doing everything under our own power, or are we seeking to remain in his presence through prayer and supplication? Looking for approval from others or seeking His purpose for our lives and the lives of others? Labeling what’s ours and theirs, or interceding for others and loving our enemies? Are we looking at the ills of the world and saying there’s nothing we can do? Or are we on our knees asking Him for deliverance, miracles, and healing?

If we are to be obedient to His commandments, we must turn to him in prayer every hour of every day. Then we will see Him working in us and in our lives. We will see His miracles and see the people He brings into our lives as opportunities to share how God cares about their circumstances, too.

We will bring His love to those who are hurting, the downtrodden, the lost, and the discouraged. The addicted, distracted, misdirected, enslaved, walking dead, or even those that are blind to His existence. So that, “… in regard to the redemption of God’s own possession,” (Ephesians 1:14) we might answer Jesus’ call to feed His sheep! (John 21:16)
